  In 2005, we built our first school in Nueva Esperanza, Nicaragua. Ten years later, more than 80 children attend it everyday.

  In the rural areas around Jalapa, NI, people survive on $2/day; more than 25% of people live on 1 meal a day or less.

  Homes in the landfill La Chureca. From 1975 to 2013 people lived and worked here. We were there helping.

  Breaking ground for our second school in Nicaragua. The school is in Champigny, a community near Jalapa, Nicaragua

  Our fifth school in Nicaragua. It had a pre-school added in 2010 and now serves the needs for the El Libano community. More than 100 children per day attend the school and pre-school.

Who We Are

AACC was founded as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization in 2004 by Deborah Young, EdS PhD.  Emphasis is placed on serving impoverished populations with the greatest needs, regardless of religious beliefs, gender, age, or ethnicity. AACC is a grassroots all-volunteer organization that currently engages in projects and partnerships in seven countries: the U.S., Nicaragua, Nepal, Kenya, Haiti, Bhutan, and India. Working in partnership with local community members and other organizations, AACC undertakes projects that are defined and implemented through participation of the community served. The agency’s focus is a result of Dr. Young’s thirty plus years’ experience providing childhood care, development, and education in impoverished nations. Her familiarity with these areas led to the creation of a new process for change, called the CEPET^© Program (Community | Education | Participation | Empowerment | Transformation) This program underlies all AACC’s endeavors.  Each community effort begins by building strong, compassionate relationships with community members. Once these relationships are developed a process is undertaken to identify, create, and implement activities and projects that address the most pressing needs of the community. The uniqueness of AACC’s approach is the way in which holistic education is used increase the quality of life for all participants while empowering primary caregivers. Since 2004, AACC has created long-lasting change for over 6,500 individuals through its programs, projects, and partnerships.
